What "Verified" Means on CNC Directory
A plain explanation of what sits behind the word "verified" on this directory, and what it doesn't cover.
Before a listing goes live
Where a company can be matched to its Companies House record, we confirm it is a real, currently registered business trading under the name and at the address shown, and not a duplicate or defunct entry. The company registration number is shown on the listing and links directly to that record.
On an ongoing basis
Listings are periodically rechecked against each company's own public information: its website, and where available its social channels and Companies House record. This confirms a listing still reflects what the company itself currently states, rather than being built once and left to go stale. Every listing shows a "Last Updated" date, and a Verification History showing when it was last checked and what was found.
What "Verified" doesn't mean
This process confirms a company exists, is active, and that a listing matches what the company publicly states about itself. As standard, it is not independent auditing: we don't test a supplier's processes on-site, and we don't verify a certification directly with the body that issued it. A certification, capability or capacity figure shown on a standard listing is what the company itself states, checked against its own public materials, not fact-checked against reality by us.
Genuine on-site verification is available, just not as part of a standard listing. On-site support is delivered by Grindstone Ltd and covers supplier selection, design-for-manufacture reviews, first article inspection and related stages. This is a separate, scoped engagement agreed directly with the company or buyer involved, not something applied automatically to every listing. Get in touch at cnc@cncdirectory.co.uk if this is what you actually need.
Always verify certifications, capacity and trading status directly with a company before relying on it for a business decision.
